Fiji is well-known for its beautiful cloudless skies and gorgeous white sand beaches. Fiji is comprised of more than 332 islands (110 of them are permanently inhabited) and 500 plus islets. Most of the Fijian islands were formed by volcanic activity more than 150 million years ago. Fiji is separated into four major divisions and these divisions are then further divided into fourteen provinces.

Fiji has a very well-developed economy compared to other countries in the Pacific Islands. It has an abundance of mineral, fish and forest resources. The main sources of foreign exchange are Fiji’s sugar exports and its tourist industry. Fiji has a significant amount of tourism, with the majority of travelers coming from the US, New Zealand and Australia. Fiji has beautiful underwater scenery that offers some of the finest and most accessible dives in the Pacific.

Regardless of the budget you have in mind, your accommodation will be your greatest expense. Shops, transportation and restaurants will offer extremely good value unless you are in a tourist location – that is far more expensive. For travelers who are solo and looking for a mid-range vacation, they can expect to pay about $180 a day, whereas couples can expect costs of about $120 per person per day.
